Life has been busy and it has been quite some time since I’ve been on to post! So to catch you all up a little bit on what’s been going on….
I now have a big 6 year old! Our oldest, Zoe, turned 6 on August 12! CRAZY!! It makes me feel old. Our baby girl, Aliyah, turned 1 on July 14th. I’m not much for birthday parties, so we just celebrated with the family. Zoe wanted to go to the movie theater, so Greg took her, Silas and Eden. They had a great time!
Greg surprised me with an early anniversary gift (it’s September 18th) and took me to Verizon and we got new phones. That might seem a bit odd to some of you, but, I had my old phone for 5 years, and it was seriously hurting! It wouldn’t vibrate any more (which, I liked to keep it on vibrate, especially during ‘school’ hours or when we were visiting with friends) and my speaker was going out so I couldn’t hear you (if by chance I did answer my phone!) and my keypad as also not working so well (I’ll blame that on texting!). Although, I think we should have waited to get them, because as you all know, getting a new phone and a new plan costs an arm and a leg, I really do enjoy my new phone.
This past weekend we were able to go visit some good friends who live in North Carolina. Oh my! It is beautiful there! We had such a great time! They had a great rope swing that the children got to play on, we went to a lake and had fun swimming. I even braved the very large rope swing! Well, maybe it wasn’t that huge, but when you are afraid of heights, 15 feet seems pretty high up! It was a great time of refreshing and encouragement. It really makes me miss them and reminded me how important fellowship with other like-minded believers is! I’m ready to go back for another visit!
Life has been pretty busy outside of that. It seems that on Sunday we have nothing planned, and by Monday almost every night is busy. I’m sure you know how that is! Day to day life is filled with the normal things: cleaning, cooking, schooling, changing diapers, etc. We have been ‘doing school’ throughout the summer since we got a late start and, thankfully, I’m not really stressing on trying to ‘catch up’. It has been going well and even though some days are more difficult than others, we are resolved in our decision to homeschool. I do need to finish filling out my Declaration of Intent to homeschool. What’s holding me up? A school name. LOL!
So, now that I have filled you in on my past month, what has yours been like? Have you been feeling overwhelmed with life? Feeling too busy? Like you don’t have enough hours in the day?
Know that you are not alone! I think that was the best part about getting away this weekend. There was no schedule and no commitments. A break from it all was much needed. Monday brought back ‘the real world’ and trying to get back into routine. So, let’s do it! As school is starting back up, let’s find a routine that works for our families and not get so busy with things that we don’t get to enjoy what is the most important.
I would love to be friends!
